Is Spring Finally Here?

Today has been absolutely gorgeous! You know the feeling... when you walk outside without a jacket and it's not too hot and not too cold. Just right... and a breeze just when you need it. Absolutely perfect. My friend Melody and I just had to take advantage of this lovely weather as soon as possible, so today we went for a run after classes ended. Long story short... I don't have good endurance, but we made it pretty far! The only thing I wish I had taken advantage of in this glorious weather was the ability to read God's word outside in His creation. That's my favorite way to dig in, and I missed it! There's been a lot on my mind today, but one thing that has stood out is this gorgeous weather. God's creation is so beautiful and wonderful and He made it for us to live in and give Him glory... "the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands." (Isaiah 55:12) Even the stones cry out His majesty! Creation all around us speaks - no shouts- of God's love, wonder, and artistic hand... All we have to do is listen to it. The Lord says "Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10 That being still requires absolute quiet and stillness of body and spirit... it requires that you aren't thinking about anything. At all. Nothing. For instance, go outside. Where no one else is... with no distractions. And just be. Don't think about anything - empty your mind of everything. It will calm you, and all you will be able to do is know that our Lord is God.
I look forward to many more days like this one where I can just "be" and know that God is Lord... where I can stand in His presence and not be moved. Just stand with Him in His creation and be in awe of His artistry and wonder in knowing that He not only cares about every detail of those creations, but also and even more so cares about us, His most prized creation. And not only days like these, but every other day to come. I pray that I live every day like it's my last and like it's the best day I've ever had. Because that may very well end up being true.
"He makes beautiful things, He makes beautiful things out of the dust.
He makes beautiful things, He makes beautiful things out of us."
Let us stand and be witnesses for Him as the trees and rocks and hills do. Let's sing to Him a new song, filling His presence with singing!
